KAI WANG(KK) is a London-based Chinese contemporary artist whose work explores the fading boundaries between tradition and modernity, craft and concept, memory and the body. Her practice often draws on intangible cultural heritage crafts, particularly the endangered art of palm weaving, reinterpreting them through jewellery, wearable structures, and sensory narratives.
In her work, organic materials, geometric structures, and bodily experience intersect. Her pieces preserve the warmth of handcraft while incorporating sensory interaction, body engagement, and material experimentation. She investigates cultural memory, loss, and reconstruction, creating intimate wearable works that facilitate dialogue between people and materials, tradition and contemporary practice, East and West.
Kai Wang has also founded KKWANG JEWELLERY, a brand dedicated to high-end bespoke jewellery.
